Job Description:

The Head of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, including the preparation of P&L statements, budgeting, and payroll management. This role requires an experienced accounting leader with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial reporting and strategy. You will work closely with senior management to ensure that the company’s financial health supports its growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, providing strategic insights and forecasts based on financial data. Ensure that budgets align with the company’s goals and financial objectives.
• Payroll Management: Oversee payroll operations, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. Work closely with HR to ensure compliance with labor laws and tax regulations.
• Financial Planning & Analysis: Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to guide decision-making and improve financial performance.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and recommend actions to ensure the company’s financial stability, including managing receivables and payables.
• Internal Controls: Implement and maintain strong internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and safeguard company assets.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, and coordinate with external accountants for tax filings and audits.
• Financial Systems Management: Oversee accounting systems, ensuring that financial data is accurate and accessible for reporting and analysis.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
• Ad-hoc Financial Analysis: Support senior management with ad-hoc financial analysis and reports to assist in strategic business planning and operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
• Proven experience with P&L statements, budgeting, and payroll management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Experience in the fashion, luxury, or retail industries is a plus.
